Neuro Intact

I chose the term "neuro intact" for my blog space because as a new nurse on a neurosurgical unit, each day that goes by I am overwhelmed with so much new information that sometimes I fear I am the one whose neurological status should be in question,not my patients'! Several times a day I'm tempted to shine my penlight in my own eyes,as well as to stop for minute and make sure I am A & O x4. I love my floor, don't get me wrong, it's just that I'm worried I'm going to end up as a patient here rather than a nurse one of these days. As another blogger once wrote concerning student nurses "you wouldn't be in nursing school if you couldn't do this." I hope the same applies to new RN's as well. They wouldn't have given me a nursing license if I couldn't do this right...Right?
